2-D Animation - Spore/MondoMedia

I began my career in 2000 when I joined a San Francisco based company called Mondo Media that specialized in flash animated shows created for the internet. While working there I became very proficient animating and designing with Flash and have used it throughout my career as a game artist for contract work, concept design and 2-D animation. Here are some animations I made using Flash while working on Spore as well as a few episodes of the shows I worked on while at Mondo Media including the very popular (and very violent), Happy Tree Friends.

  • Role Animator/Concept Artist
  • Date September 2003- August 2008

Here's an exploratory flash film I made to help guide the look, tone and feel of a new game we were designing that eventually went on to be called DarkSpore. Other than the sound I was the sole creator of this film.

Spore is a 2008 life simulation real-time strategy God game developed by Maxis, published by Electronic Arts and designed by Will Wright. Spore allows a player to control the development of a species from its beginnings as a microscopic organism, through development as an intelligent and social creature, to interstellar exploration as a space faring culture. Here is a short Flash film I made for Spore during pre-production to help guide the look, feel and tone of the game.

An exploratory shot for one of Spore's opening logo animations.

An award winning Episode of the popular web series Happy Tree Friends that I animated for Mondo Media. (Warning: Cartoon Violence )

Kringles were popular Christmas themed Happy Tree Friend shorts that I animated while at Mondo Media.

Heavy Metal Guy was a fun animated web series I worked on at Mondo Media. The show features Robbie, a heavy metal obsessed dude who loves bringing his musical talents everywhere he goes...even if its not necessarily welcomed.
